Dear Reader, AI Leadership Fellow, Good Sunday morning. Enjoy your coffee and croissants while perusing through some latest AI news! Last week, we delved into the magic of the Virtual AI-TEAM, a concept that's been instrumental in shaping our content and decision-making process. You can catch up here or find it in your spam folder if it missed you. This Week in AIMy go-to for weekly news is Matt Wolf's weekly video. In 23 minutes, you'll see what's interesting in this rapidly changing world of AI. This week, he's taking us from AI safety initiatives by major companies to the launch of innovative AI tools like Stability's FreeWilly, Runway's Image-To-Video, and Kaiber's Text-To-Animation; the landscape is buzzing with activity. Notable highlights include the appointment of OpenAI's Head of Trust & Safety and Geoffrey Hinton's perspective on AI emotions. Whether you're interested in all this or not is your choice, but it had an astonishing effect on me recently. Let me at least tell you this one anecdote. AI: Distinguishing Real from FakeThere is a video that's been making rounds on the internet. It features a ping-pong-playing robot, a spectacle that has bewildered many outside the AI nerd community. However, having seen a demonstration of the technique on Matt's video, it was immediately apparent that the video was a well-made fake. I admired how well 'Wonder Studio' (I think) transforms a human into a robot in a video. I looked for the original video, and the magic was before my eyes. But it only dawned on me how seriously wrong things can go and are already going when I read the comments on serious fact-checking websites stating they had ‘discovered’ it was fake. People were genuinely discussing if it was real or not. This incident underscores the absolute importance of AI literacy. Knowing what's possible with AI helps us discern what's real and what's not. It's a crucial skill in today's digital age, precisely what we aim to foster here at AI Leadership. Spread the news, and show what you see because nothing will stop misusers from misusing the technique. As I already stated, no law has ever stopped crime! Only education will be an answer in this disruptive evolution. But let's not allow this to diminish our awe for the astounding opportunities that arise from this incredible evolution, or should I write revolution? The AI Leadership Project: Public Speaking EditionApart from that, I'm thrilled to announce that I'm working on a new project about public speaking. I'll explain later why public speaking is an essential project for me, but for now, I just want to show how AI helped me with it. I've been gathering ideas and experiences about this topic for years, resulting in a rather chaotic mind map. I already tried to work on such a mind map with ChatGPT, but the mere size of those monsters made it really difficult. Then Claude 2 arrived with its 100.000 tokens appetite. I first tried to feed the map to Claude as I did for ChatGPT, transforming it into a long list of lines with a number of '#' indicating the level in the mind map. And indeed, it is as complicated as it seems. A little disappointed by the meagre results, I just asked Claude how best to share such a mind map since he couldn't read the files produced by my mind map app (iThoughtsX). The surprising answer: "Just give me the image ". I exported an image as large as possible, and it worked perfectly. (If you're curious, the link shows you the mindmap, but I promise, you'll be the first to really see the content of it, soon 😉) I've managed to transform this jumble of thoughts into a well-structured "Personal Presentation Course". It's still a draft but no less a testament to the transformative potential of AI, and I can't wait to share more details with you soon! Your Thoughts MatterAs we continue this journey, I want to hear from you. What topics are you interested in? What questions do you have about AI and leadership? Your input is invaluable in shaping our content and ensuring it aligns with your needs. So, don't hesitate to reach out and share your thoughts. One question I would love to hear your comments on: (*) Are you AIRR or AISE? A believer of "AIRR": AI Rapid Revolution or "AISE": AI Slow Evolution? Thank you for being a part of our community. Your curiosity and eagerness to learn are what make this journey worthwhile. Here's to another week of exploring, learning, and growing together in the fascinating world of AI! Yours in AILuc |
